Feeling like a proper writer

3 Mar

Just sent off corrected proofs for a short story that is going to appear in the next edition of Pushing out the Boat.  Very exciting, although the 4 pages have taken a good while, reading and re-reading just to check everything was ok.  I was actually relieved when I found an error as it proved I was doing it properly (hopefully).  I read somewhere that you should proofread backwards as that way you are checking each individual word, but it’s difficult enough forwards.  It did remind me though of my literacy teaching as I sounded out each word, to check the accuracy.

Also like a proper writer, I’m trying to set up a way of making money, and have an interview for the check-out at Waitrose next week.  Fingers crossed.
