Beta Readers

5 Feb

Working on the comments I’ve received back from the merry band of beta readers who have been critiquing All the Places I’ve Ever Been. Despite the amazing help I get from my writers group, I thought that it would be useful to get people to read the novel in one go, rather than over a year and a half (as it gets written and re-written). My final (she says hopefully) draft now has much more purpose – I know exactly what needs to be changed and improved, but am glad that the overall response has been positive. It’s a bit strange going back to the book after a few weeks away, not least because this time I’m not checking my word count all the time to check that I am actually writing something that can be called a book. At 75k I’m in the right ballpark, and I know that with the editing some bits will be totally scrubbed, but there is definitely room for expanding in other areas. Looking at having it completed by mid-March – a slight slip in my original timetable, but need to give myself a deadline or I’ll never get it finished.
