Attended the awards ceremony for the Eileen Gilmour Award last night. Just found on Wednesday that I had been shortlisted, so a day of excitement, followed by lots of anticipation. And the winner is http://ercblogs.co.uk/reading/

Hi there. I was shortlisted for the award and was at the Alan Bissett event. Really enjoyed reading your story which is now linked on the website. It took me back to my school days and I shared Louise’s frustration with French! All the best, David.

Thanks for your kind words – I also enjoyed your story which I’ve now had a chance to read. I liked your descriptions, you could really see the walk to Monkeylands. Keep writing and entering competitions – it’s the only way to win them!

I am just a beginner – but have taken a career break to make more of a formal stab at the writing. All the best with yours!
        🙂
