Happy, Happy

20 Jul

Just back from a lovely two weeks in the south of Spain and trying to ignore the fact that I’ve had food poisoning and an operation on my hand, and my boys have been sick, because… an agent is interested in my book. I got an email when I was away to say that an agent wants to read my whole manuscript. I’m realistic enough to know that I’m still far from a deal, but have inched a little closer and am supremely happy. It’s also great to get some encouragement – which I also got from winning the Eileen Gilmour Award just before I left. Feeling generally very positive – good things are happening, but I’m also making them happen by getting my material out there to be judged.

Now that the sickness has gone, and the operation, which I was dreading is over, I can get on with redrafting a short story I wrote before I went away and working on the notes I took on holiday for my new projects, and a revived old one. I’m going to be off work for a week or so, so I think it’s a good time to start on my new novel (with lots of one handed typing0.
