School’s Out

20 Sep

A new multimedia video of my flash fiction for this week.

Spent the week looking after sick kid, finishing application for Scottish Book Trust New Writers Award and preparing for tomorrow’s Pitch Live, which I’m getting increasingly excited and nervous about. I scanned through my first novel All the Places I’ve Ever Been again today, and still think it’s worth publishing, so will pitch tomorrow with gusto.

Can reveal now that I have been shortlisted for the Booktown Writers’ Short Story Award for my story The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth, but didn’t make it any further. The winning stories will be published on their website (I think) after the award ceremony in October, and there is going to be an anthology, but don’t know if I’ve made that. http://www.booktownwriters.co.uk/competition.html

Did you ever hear anything back from Booktown Writers, Colette. I also had a story short-listed but never heard another word. i don’t know if i didn’t make it to the anthology or whether the anthology happened or even who the final winner was. I have enquired but no response.

No. I never heard anything other than the top three listed on the website. It is rather frustrating as it ties up work. It doesn’t seem to be uncommon though to be left hanging. It would be nice though if they also put the authors’names on the shortlist so we can have some bragging rights.

I make nice frocks and write average poetry. And there's a bit of embroidery and the occasional rant.
